Keeping Your Home Protected Against Wildfire

If your property is in a forested area, you run the risk of wildfire hazards. In such cases, you should take measures so that your property does not catch fire.

Burning embers and small flames are the main ways that homes ignite in wildfires. Embers are burning pieces of airborne wood or vegetation that can be carried more than a mile by wind. These embers can cause spot fires and ignite homes, debris and other objects on your property

Property owners need to prepare the areas around their property to minimize the likelihood of flames or surface fires touching the home or other property. Experiments, models and post-fire studies have shown homes ignite due to the condition of the home and everything around it.
